Kodi's Birthday Party

Even though Kodi's birthday was on October 1st, because of
sickness and hunting, we had to postpone her party a bit. I think we've decided that in the future we're going to do it a week early to avoid all of that stuff. Her party was great and we had a wonderful turnout. Nearly everyone came. The weather was fantastic too, which was really nice so the kids could play outside. The boys were taunting the Holt girls who were standing on
their tent trailer on the other side of the fence.

Everyone was so generous with their gifts for Kodi. Jen and Billgave her a Rapunzel Barbie and silly bands. Rusty and Amy gave her dress-up jewelry,
a brush and mirror, and a purse to put it all into. My parents gave her a whole bunch of clothes and shoes (which she desperately needed). I know that two-year-olds aren't partial to clothing for their birthday, but at this age, you want to please the parents just as much. We even got her a Rapunzel cake because she loves the movie Tangled so much. She watches it probably every day, and the best way to calm her down is to softly sing the healing incantation into her ear. It works like a charm. Everyone was so nice and pleasant and it was wonderful to visit.

I didn't know how all the gifts would turn out because she didn't seem interested in much of anything but the silly
bands, but by the next morning, she was wearing her jewelry every- where, and she became quite possessive of her Rapunzel Barbie. I have to admit that I was surprised by this because she doesn't like dolls. I also braided Rapunzel's hair because it kept getting tangled, and I used the beret that the doll came with to end it. This beret has a hair attachment so you can make Rapunzel's hair even
longer. Kodi did not like it when I braided her hair, but come to find out, it was because she wanted Rapunzel's beret for herself. So once I clipped in the hair attachment, Kodi was much happier. She also pranced around in her dress-up jewelry. She put all of it (necklaces included) on her arm like a bracelet and would hold her arm out so nothing would fall off. It's pretty funny to watch her. I think all of her presents were a hit and we're so grateful for all of our family.
