Memorial Weekend

Keeping with tradition, we went to Bear Lake for the holiday weekend.  It was the fullest our cabin has been in a long time, but there still wasn't anyone Kyson and Kodi's age to play with.  I was so happy that Alicia came, but unfortunately, Atley went with Brock camping.  Garrit and Casey came, but they have a little baby.  Kodi loved the little baby though.

We kept things simple with just lounging around the cabin, enjoying the beach, and of course, we had some shakes from Garden City.  But there was one thing that we decided to add to the relaxing weekend - potty training Kodi.  In order for her to be able to join me at the school, she has to be potty trained.  We have only a couple of weeks left and I'm getting nervous.  She's so stubborn that we've been trying to do this for a year and half with no luck.  I think, however, I've found her Achilles heal - Snow White.

Kodi has a Snow White dress that she adores.  She wants to wear it 24/7.  I told her that in order to wear her dress, she needs to potty int he toilet.  If she pees in her dress, I'll have to wash it and she won't be able to wear it.  I think we might be on to something here, because she wanted her dress so badly that she sat on the toilet for 20 minutes, insisting on going potty.  She eventually did, and earned her dress back.  I'm thankful for the power of Snow White.

I can't even begin to express how grateful I am for the family cabin at the lake.  The kids look forward to going, I look forward to going, and when we leave, I can't wait to go back.

We Love You Miss Hannigan

Kodi has an unusual taste in style.  While it drives me crazy, I try to just let her be her as long as she's not in public.  This week, she has decided to take on the style of Miss Hannigan from the famous musical "Annie."  I couldn't be prouder.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was interesting this year.  Kyson and Kodi both had a gift for me that they made at school and Kris bought me a gift as well.  I was so excited that everyone was so thoughtful, but unfortunately, none of them could hold on to their gifts.  Throughout the week, each of them insisted they give me their gift, and by the time Mother's Day came, it was like any other Sunday, except I got a candy bar in church.  I loved the gifts I received.  I only wish I could have had them on my special day.

We did go to my parents that afternoon and it was nice to just sit around and have a nice barbeque.  The kids ran around the yard, and it was so nice to see Bill.  He works out of town right now so we don't see him as much as we'd like.  We gave my mother gifts to honor her for the day and just casually visited.  I really enjoy getting together with the family.  I wish we saw Jen's kids more often, but I understand how it's hard when they're grown and some have other families.  Overall it was a nice day, and I'm glad there is a day set aside for mothers.  I'm also grateful that I wasn't the photographer for the holiday - Kris was.

Sprinkler Fun

Our lawn needed some serious watering and Kris wanted to turn on the sprinklers in order to adjust them and get them ready for the summer.  When the water came on, the kids and the dogs were so excited that they thought it was time to enjoy the water.  Both Kyson and Kodi ran upstairs and put on their swimsuits, then came outside to run through the water.

Kyson was a little more challenging to get in the pictures.  He kept wandering off to find bugs, or fill tiny containers with water.  Kodi, on the other hand, kept her distance from the direct water, but seemed to have a blast playing in the water and running around on dead grass.  I'm so grateful that it doesn't take much to make kids happy...most of the time.

Snow White

Usually when I think of Disney princesses, I think about finding them at Disneyland, other amusement parks, or the Princess Festival.  Strangely enough, the other day when I went to Smith's to buy a couple of groceries, there was Snow White in the floral section of the store, just hanging out.  Kodi was very excited by seeing her, so I had to take a picture.  I wish more princesses hung out at grocery stores just for fun.
