Kyson's Adventures Continue

The last few days, Kyson's rash from the strep throat has gone away, but a different kind of rash has slowly been breaking out. We thought maybe it was a residual rash from the strep and were going to wait until he had finished the antibiotic before calling the doctor - but it was getting worse. The doctor was nice enough to see Kyson as a follow-up visit, free of charge, after hours. Kyson had an allergic reaction to the medication and broke out in hives.

The doctor gave him another medication to help clear up the allergic reaction, but because the rash is so wide-spread, he needs an oral medication, not a cream. I tried giving him the new medication tonight and literally I got a drop of mediciine in his mouth before he started projectile vomitting. It was aweful becuase that stuff makes me sick and I started dry heaving while trying to clean it up and hurt my back terribly trying to carry Kyson into the kitchen. It's frusterating.

Pregnancy Update

Some of you have been asking for a picture of me so they can see my belly. While I don't have a posed shot, Kris took a picture on the 24th of July so that will have to suffice. I'm a week away from 7 months along and I've had a great pregnancy so far. I'm still on anti-nausea medication and will be until the end. My diabetes test came back negative (Thank goodness), but once again, my thyroid is off. They've now added another thyroid medication to my current prescription. I'm now taking 9 pills every night and one in the morning. When the pregnancy is over, that will lower significantly. Saturday we're going in for a 3D ultrasound and we'll post pics of the baby.

Pioneer Day

Because Kyson was sick, we had to cancel our trip to Bear Lake, but we didn't let that stop our fun. We celebrated the 24th of July with our friends, the Holts. Kyson loved the sparklers and it was funny because he'd get so excited he'd want to show us and practically catch us on fire. he loved the fireworks and it was cute to watch him and Kris laying on a blanket, watching the fireworks.

This evening is the first sign of Kyson acting human again. he's no longer crying insessantly, or being violent. We're so grateful he's geting better and better. I've missed my little boy.

Strep Throat Attacks

Monday, Kris called me at work and said, "I don't think Kyson feels very well." I had thought the same thing earlier. When I returned home from work that night, he felt burning hot, had a rash all over his back, and refused to eat or drink all day. I put him in the tub to try and cool him down, and when he got out of the tub, I took his temperature. It was 101. I knew that his temperature was probably higher becuase he fought with me to take his temperature, and he had just goten out of the tub, which cooled him down a little. So, I decided to call the on-call doctor to see if I needed to take him to Instacare.

The doctor said that as long as he didn't act like he was in any pain or having trouble breathing, I didn't need to worry about it for the night, but monitor him, and give him some fever reducing medicine. I did. The next morning I took his temperature again and it was still too high. That evening, the rash was still there, the fever and he still wouldn't eat or drink. He was extremely lathargic and wanted to be cuddled all the time. We decided to take him in to the doctor in the morning.

At the doctor's office, they didn't know what was wrong with him until they looked at his throught. Kris said the doctor's response was, "Oh my gosh, can I do a strep test?" Of course Kris said yes, and sure enough he had a really bad case. Since that morning, the behaviors kicked in. He started crying from morning until night, still refused to eat, and wouldn't sleep even though he was exhausted. He threw things, hit the dog, and pushed us. It's been aweful.

It's taken some time, but the rash is going away, his fever is gone, and he's starting to drink milk, but nothing else. His behavior is on and off, but we're hoping he'll get better quickly. We're so glad that we found out what was wrong, and we're thankful no one else got sick from him. It's been a rough week though.

Family Reunion Time

Every year Kris's family gets together for a family reunion. Kris's mom, Carol, has 2 sisters and he reunion is with each of the sisters' families. Basically it's all of Kris's cousins. This year the reunion was in Salt Lake instead of Vernal as we usually have it. It had it's benefits and limitations, but it happened and I think the family left happy. The only thing that sucks is I'm in pictures being 6 months pregnant. Fortunately, there were a lot of people and I could hide behind them.

Independence Day Weekend

I love holidays if for no other reason than the excuse to be with family. We went to Bear Lake again for the 4th of July and Kyson really loves it up there. The lake has really come up and I hope it keeps going, but I'm afraid I don't think it will. We went four wheeling as usual, watched some movies, played air hockey, foosball andjust played with the kids.
Of course, we also played in the water and Kyson went out on my aunt and uncle's boat. he hasn't been boating since last year so he didn't care for it at first. He LOVES to play in the sand on the beach and I couldn't get him away from it.
