Kyson has been attending a school called Small Wonders for two years now. Last year they did an end-of-the-year program, but this year, they did a graduation. The kids sang songs, did a slide show, and then they announced each student by name, gave them a lei and a diploma. Kyson did much better this year than last year. Last year, when they said his name, he got so scared he ran across the stage refused anything they gave him and wouldn't go sit down in his chair. He sat behind his teacher on the stage until they were done with his class. This year, he did a great job. He walked out on stage appropriately, walked to his teacher, received his diploma and lei and sat down on his assigned chair. While that doesn't seem like a big accomplishment, in my eyes, it was wonderful.
It will be sad for him to leave Small Wonders, but he's moving to a Montessori Kindergarten in the fall. I think this will be a good fit for him and give him another year of development before entering the public schools. We're proud of his progress and know he will continue to move forward.
